What IsoLog does for you

• Data stays local: no cloud database, no copies of your projects on IsoLog servers

1 · Turn on Windows device encryption

IsoLog's project file is protected by your Windows sign-in, like your other documents. If a laptop is lost or stolen, encryption keeps the drive unreadable. On Windows 11 go to Settings → Privacy & security → Device encryption (or BitLocker drive encryption on Pro and Enterprise) and turn it on. Most company laptops already have it — ask IT to confirm.

2 · Lock down the team folder

With Team sharing, the project lives in a folder your company controls. Give access only to the people on the job: QC manager and inspectors can edit; project managers and clients who only read should get view-only access, or use IsoLog's free read-only mode. Remove people from the folder when they leave the project — that removes their access to the data.

3 · Keep the AI connector on this computer

If you use the optional AI connector, leave it on "This computer only". The network option sends data without encryption and is only for IT teams that put it behind their own firewall or HTTPS gateway. Give each AI tool its own access key, and revoke any key you no longer use.

4 · Keep updates on

Updates carry security fixes. Leave automatic update checks on (Help → Updates), or check monthly. Annual plans and Own-it plans with Updates & Support get every update.

5 · Sign-ins and backups

Use a Windows account per person (no shared logins) so the change history shows who did what. Back up the IsoLog folder with your normal company backup — for a team, backing up the shared folder covers everyone.

Common questions

Where is my project data stored?

On your own computer, in your Windows user folder, or in the shared folder your team chooses (network drive, OneDrive, SharePoint or Teams). IsoLog has no server copy of your projects. Specs and drawings are read on your computer and never uploaded.

What does the app send to the internet?

Only an update check (app version, license ID and an anonymous install ID) and anything you choose to send: a help request, or a license renewal check. Turn automatic update checks off under Help if your site does not allow it.

How do I know an update really came from IsoLog?

Every update is signed with an IsoLog key that is kept offline, separate from our website. The app checks that signature and the file's SHA-512 checksum before installing, and refuses anything that does not match.

Can someone change the app's files?

From version 0.14.2 the app checks its own code archive every time it starts and refuses to run if it was altered, and it cannot be started in debugging or plain-Node modes that could be used to inject code.

Does the AI connector send our data to an AI company?

Only if you set it up for your own AI assistant. It is off until you turn it on, works on this computer only by default, needs an access key you create and can revoke, and cannot change project data unless you allow drafting — and then only as drafts you approve.
